Plantation Delight Kennel
Although the kennel has recently "voluntarily" closed, the truth about their "closure" does not put the state at fault. On their website Plantation delight kennel wrote the following statement,
"WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED US THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AND WHO HAVE PURCHASED PUPS. DUE TO NEW STATE GUIDELINES WE CAN NO LONGER RAISE PUPS IN THE MANNER WHICH SUPPORTS A HEALTHY WELL SOCIALIZED PUPPY. WE HAVE SPENT OUR LIFE SAVING TRYING TO DO WHAT THE STATE WANTED BUT REALIZED THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO PLEASE THEM AND SAVE OUR INTRIGRATY AS A BREEDER. THEY WERE FORCING US TO BECOME A PUPPY MILL. SO WE HAVE CLOSED DOWN OUR KENNEL."
(P.S. Integrity is spelled wrong.)
Although, Sandra Reynolds, owner of Plantation Delight Kennel, was clearly in the wrong she will not take responsibility for her own actions. All she can do is point the finger to try to take the blame off of herself. Blaming others is not an acceptable response, it just reiterates to her "Integrity," or lack thereof. Do not be fooled by her trying to point the finger at the state, the truth is and still remains that the kennel in question is and always was unfit to breed and raise dogs. The state has given them bad reviews for the last 6 years. They have been unsatisfactory in very specific areas that are very important to breed "happy, healthy dogs." In their latest inspections they received verbal and written warning that they failed, these areas are the same areas they had failed in previous years as well. They did not heed the states warnings and they did not try to correct their problems. Therefore, they receive these BAD reviews year after year. Some of the problems were:
I know first hand that she lies to potential buyers, telling them that all of her dogs are OFA tested hip & elbow, because I have bought a dog off of her. If you look up some of her dogs on OFA website, surprise surprise they are not on there. They have never had any testing done on them. Sandra claims that if a dog passes their OFA the next 6 generations of dogs that come from that dog will all pass an OFA exam. Which is FALSE. Ask an orthopedic vet. OFA exams are in place for a reason, it goes on a dog to dog basis. Just because both parents of a pup passed their OFA exam does not mean that a pup will pass that exam. The dog I bought off of her failed the OFA exam, and neither parent was in the OFA database as having their certifications done like she had stated. I am very happy to hear this puppy/kitten mill has been shut down.
However, I do hope that SOON the Doggie Daycare will close as well.

KENNEL REVIEWS
John - Coatesville, PA
One week prior to being boarded at this kennel my six year old lab was examined by my personal vet and found to be in excellent health. He weighed 90.1 pounds. When picked up after a two week stay, (Saturday), it was obvious that he lost substantial weight. He was taken to my vet two days later, (Monday). His weight had dropped to 83 pounds (vet confirmed). Despite the extreme weight loss, (7 pounds), the kennel owner failed to contact myself, my vet or their vet. He died six days after being picked up from the kennel. Official cause of death was pneumonia. My lab was purchased at this kennel. To make matters worse, we had also purchased a golden there. She died last November from a heart tumor. She was only 6 years old. We lost 2 young dogs in 7 months at the hands of the same kennel.
In hindsight, if I was aware of the PA Dept Of Agriculture's website, (public record), which lists this kennel's extensive history of kennel violations over the past several years, (Bureaus, Commssions and Offices/ Dog Law Enforcement Office), I would never had boarded my dog at Plantation Delight.

I boarded my dog here for a weekend after my wife and I just moved to the area, and really didn't have a lot of time to research kennels. When I first got there, no one was around, and it was not evident where the "office" was, so I walked my dog around a little until someone came out of the house to check us in. When we finally got in, the smells and poor sanitation of the place immediately sent up red flags. Unfortunately, I had a flight to catch in a matter of hours, so I really didn't have a choice but to leave my dog here. When I picked him up two days later, they never gave me back a toy I had left for him (which I didn't realize until after the fact), they said they had used up the container of cottage cheese that I had left with his food (she said she may have had a "heavy hand" with it - it should have been enough for a week, not two days), and he had a large red welt/cut on his side that turned into a nasty crusty mess that took many vet visits and months to heal (again, I didn't realize this until after I had him home).
I would NEVER even consider leaving my dog here again, and unfortunately learned the hard way how important it is to research and VISIT a kennel well before you have to leave your animal there.
As for their breeding capabilities, I agree with a previous reviewer. The amount of dogs seemingly running wild at this place, the frequency with which new litters are available, and the generally unsanitary conditions would make me think twice about purchasing a puppy from these people.
I am not generally someone that would go online to write a review, but after this experience, I really felt it was necessary to warn people about this place.

I am very glad to hear they were shut down. This puppy & kitten mill is no more. I hope that the day care is shut down soon as well. Anyone who wants to capitalize off of innocent animals and make them live in filth should be treated the same way. I bet if animals could say something they would say "Quit trying to make a QUICK buck off of me... GO GET A JOB YOU BUM!"

"PET OWNERS BEWARE - THIS ONE SMELLS LIKE A PUPPY MILL
My girlfriend and I had looked into purchasing a goldendoodle from here and are we sure glad we didn't. From the moment we arrived at the location the smell and sanitation of the owner's "office" [read: guest house with animals running around everywhere] were very off-putting. We had visited Plantation Delight in person to see the litter and meet the breeder. The breeder gave very general answers to our questions and did not ask any of her own. She showed no interest in who she was selling her puppies to nor did she care what type of house they were bring brought into. She claimed that her dogs would be "just fine" if left alone for "up to 9 hours if you want".
After the initial meeting, the owner asked for a $500 deposit before anything further was done. We had asked for a copy of a contract from the owner before any money was exchanged. What we got (a week later) was a copy of a contract for a labradoodle sold over a year ago noting a health guarantee that barely covered a year.
Trusting our gut but not giving up hope, we had requested a list of references of recent buyers. After taking almost a week again, the owner finally responded with the contact information of her vet and someone she sold a golden retriever to 3 years ago! Clearly one would think this "breeder" is in it for the money and typically only sells to pet stores.
If you are interested in getting a goldendoodle or labradoodle LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not saying the owner doesn't love animals. It's just that the place is a few four-legged families from what Noah hurdled onto his boat. Here's a helpful article to give you an idea of the "loving environment" that the pups are raised in. - http://sybilsden.com/gc/gc2.htm"

My dog has separation anxiety and has had training, lots of attention, has seen a behaviorist, has had medications and still has huge issues. I love him, he is sweet and well behaved when someone is around but without someone being present...he is a nightmare. After reading more about this business, I am convinced that the issues stem from the breeders.
Here is what I found on:
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/pets/Is-Dog-Law-violating-the-dog-law.html
Plantation Delight kennel in West Grove, a breeding facility and dog day care center. That kennel received warnings in each of five inspections in 2011, including for cages that were too small, rodent infestation, poor ventilation and for mixing adult dogs with nursing mothers and mixing intact females and males in the same cages.

When we first got our dog from Sandra, she was skiddish and shy from a lack of socialization. Do not board your dog here or buy a dog from this lady. I do not even give this lady 1 star Her rating is a Zero from me. The dog we got off of her was defective and has moderate hip displaysia, the dog isn't even 2 years old yet. My dog failed OFA hip certification twice with the same result both times. The lady tried to blame the dogs "genetic defects" on the way we raised the dog. Obviously, these are genetic defects which come from the way the dog was bred! This lady runs what looks like a PUPPY MILL, smells like a PUPPY MILL... Therefore it is a PUPPY MILL! Do yourself and your family the favor and Never buy a dog from her. You will regret it in the end if you do, it will end in heartache and a headache for you.
I wish I would have done some research on this kennel before we got a dog from her I have read some really negative reviews. A newspaper wrote "Plantation Delight kennel in West Grove, a breeding facility and dog day care center. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY OR BOARD YOUR DOG AT PLANTATION DELIGHT KENNEL! Sandy Reynolds does not care about the well being of any dogs she seems to only be in the business of raising defective dogs and charging exuberant prices for them. She seems to be in it just for the money. After "25 years" of breeding you think she would have "healthier, happier dogs." She is a PUPPY MILL ... It's about QUANTITY with her kennel NOT quality.

I was looking this site up hoping they were out of business-3 years ago I wanted a Siberian kitten-she brought down 2-you could feel their little chests rattling with mucus-my vet fixed up the one I bought (for $850) but also had to write to them saying the kitten was under weight and had a fever etc-they said I could bring her back but of course I loved her. Nnow she is only 7 pounds but is healthy except for the herpes virus breakouts that make her eyes weepy when she's stressed. I have to give her lysine tabs every day-if you look at their website it appears the momma cats do have eye drainage-my vet said the place can be a castle but if they sell multiple breeds of cats and dogs. It probably is a puppy/kitten mill.

An upscale puppy mill! We should have trusted our instincts and known better, but we fell in love with our little goldendoodle. In retrospect, I would never get another dog from Plantation Delight. They are one step away from a full fledged puppy mill. We have two other goldendoodles, each from a different place and both of them are so much better adjusted socially. I should have realized the minute we drove up and saw the myriad of dogs, with no specialty. When the puppies were brought out to us, rather than us brought into where they were being kept should have been another signal. Not meeting the parents was also a red flag! But seeing the adorable puppies made us cave. We love our little girl but she is extremely skittish and still, at the age of 2 1/2 , suffers from anxiety separation. It is clear she lacked socialization with people before we got her and the environment for her was overwhelming. Not a nurturing place at all. What kind of reputable breeder would offer discount coupons? I wish I knew then what I suspect now. Where were the negative reviews when we were purchasing our little girl?

Two of my friends bought cats from this place. They each paid $800 for cats that had ringworm, bacterial infections, and diarrhea. These happened 15 months apart. They were unable to get their money back. Someone should investigate this place.

They couldn't follow the state regulations so they got out of the dog breeding business. Good!
She raised many different breeds at the same time.
Too many breeds is a clear sign they only want the money instead of the betterment of the breed.
